In five hours you’ll stand at two of the most iconic lakes in Canada, Lake Louise and Moraine Lake, without giving up your whole day. We pick up in Canmore or Banff and head straight into the heart of Banff National Park. At Lake Louise you’ll have 75 minutes to walk the shoreline, photograph the Chateau, and actually take it in. Then it’s a short drive to Moraine Lake.
Here’s the part most visitors don’t plan for: private vehicles have been banned from Moraine Lake Road since 2023. For everyone else, getting in means navigating the Parks Canada shuttle system — booking weeks ahead, or gambling on same-day tickets. We handle your Moraine Lake access directly, so there’s no scramble for shuttle tickets and no morning lost in a queue. Once you’re there, the Rockpile trail is a 10–15 minute climb (0.8 km return, about 24 m of elevation gain) to one of the most photographed views in the country: ten glacier-capped peaks above a lake so blue it once graced the back of Canada’s $20 bill. In person, it earns every photo you’ve seen.
The morning departure puts you at Lake Louise ahead of the tour buses — that early quiet is something you don’t forget. The afternoon departure catches Moraine Lake as the light softens and the crowds thin. Either way, you’re back in Banff or Canmore with time left for dinner, a walk along the Bow River, or a same-day flight out of Calgary.

Is Moraine Lake open year-round?
Moraine Lake is accessible from June 1 to mid-October, depending on snow. Outside that window the access road closes (avalanche risk) and the lake freezes. Because private vehicles have been banned from Moraine Lake Road since 2023, most visitors need the Parks Canada shuttle — which sells out weeks ahead. On our tours, **we handle Moraine Lake access directly**, so there's no shuttle to book. In the closed months (mid-October–May), our winter tours visit Lake Louise, Johnston Canyon (optional ice walk), Marble Canyon and other year-round stops instead.
How long do we spend at each lake?
You'll have 75 minutes at Lake Louise and 90 minutes at Moraine Lake — enough time to walk the shoreline, climb the Rockpile viewpoint and actually take it in without feeling rushed. The full tour runs about five hours from pickup to drop-off. Exact timings shift slightly with season and traffic.
Is this tour suitable for kids?
Yes — this tour suits seniors, families and most travellers with average mobility. Stops are reached by short, mostly flat walks (under 10–15 minutes), except the Moraine Lake Rockpile viewpoint, which is a short climb over loose, uneven rock. We offer senior-friendly private tours with relaxed pacing and shorter walks on request. Children of all ages are welcome — mention car-seat or booster needs when booking.
Can I bring my own food?
Yes — you're welcome to bring your own food and drinks. Bottled water and snacks are included, but lunch is not, and there's no lunch stop on the half-day itinerary. Many guests pack something to eat along the way.
Is the tour wheelchair accessible?
The shorelines at both lakes are reached by short, mostly flat walks, but the classic Moraine Lake viewpoint — the Rockpile — is a 10–15 minute climb over loose, uneven rock that isn't wheelchair accessible. Guests who prefer to skip the climb can still enjoy the lakeshore.
